Royal Caribbean Sets Stage for Major Caribbean Exploration, New Destinations and Beach Clubs Boost 2027 to 2028 Season
Royal Caribbean

The spirit of seafaring adventure is heading for an exciting new chapter as Royal Caribbean prepares to unveil its most ambitious season yet across Texas, California and the Northeast. Leading this monumental rollout is the trailblazing Icon of the Seas, a ship that transformed the concept of family vacations and is now gearing up for its first-ever sailings from Galveston beginning August 2027. This highly awaited debut forms part of the cruise line’s dynamic 2027-28 program, inviting travelers to explore vibrant Caribbean escapes and scenic coastal routes across North America. Early access bookings have already opened for Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members ahead of the wider public launch on Nov. 13.

With nine innovative ships offering 4- to 12-night itineraries starting April 2027, vacationers can embark on adventures that blend relaxation, thrill and cultural discovery. The lineup includes visits to Royal Caribbean’s signature beach club destinations, such as Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in The Bahamas, opening in December 2025, and Royal Beach Club Cozumel in Mexico, debuting in 2026. Each getaway promises remarkable experiences, from underwater explorations in the Caribbean to leisurely strolls along the picturesque coasts of Mexico and immersive urban adventures in some of North America’s most charming cities, including Portland, Halifax, Sydney and Boston.

A Bold New Era for Texas

Galveston is set to become a powerhouse departure point as Icon of the Seas makes its star-studded entrance in August 2027. After launching the season from Miami in April, the record-breaking vessel will offer 6- to 8-night journeys across the Eastern and Western Caribbean. Travelers will visit destinations like Perfect Day at CocoCay, Cozumel and Roatan, Honduras. Icon’s onboard experience delivers unmatched variety, featuring Category 6 — the largest waterpark at sea — seven distinct pools and more than 40 dining and beverage venues crafted for guests of all ages.

Liberty of the Seas will join the Texas lineup with newly amplified features following its 2026 transformation. Sailing 4- to 8-night adventures, Liberty invites guests to snorkel among the wonders of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef in Roatan or uncover the ancient stories of the Mayan world in Costa Maya. Its upgraded pool deck, enhanced ocean-view casitas, The Lime & Coconut bar and an all-new Royal Escape Room add layers of enjoyment ideal for families and groups.

Another Texas first arrives with Symphony of the Seas, homeporting in Galveston starting April 2027. The ship will lead 4- to 8-night Western Caribbean voyages to destinations like Nassau, Perfect Day at CocoCay, Costa Maya and Cozumel. On board, guests can take on The Ultimate Abyss slide or choose from over 30 restaurants and lounges, including Jamie’s Italian and Boleros.

Sunlit California Adventures

The Golden State will shine brighter as Ovation of the Seas and Navigator of the Seas take travelers along the stunning Pacific coast. Ovation of the Seas will offer short 3- and 4-night getaways from Los Angeles, featuring stops in Ensenada and Catalina Island. Its new enhancements introduce lively venues like the Pesky Parrot tiki bar and Sound Cellar, accompanied by thrill-filled activities at the expansive SeaPlex and unforgettable views from the North Star glass capsule.

Navigator of the Seas will continue its celebrated voyages to the Mexican Riviera, showcasing seven-night itineraries packed with cultural, natural and culinary highlights. Vacationers can admire Cabo San Lucas’s dramatic Land’s End rock formations, experience Mazatlán’s historical treasures, or unwind along the vibrant coastline of Puerto Vallarta. On board, adventures come to life with the FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing walls, and more than 20 dining venues that span seafood specialties to classic steakhouse dishes.

Picturesque Journeys from the Northeast

Royal Caribbean’s Northeast lineup invites travelers to discover new perspectives on Caribbean sunshine, Canadian charm and New England heritage. Oasis of the Seas will lead 7-night escapes from Cape Liberty to Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay, offering a dynamic blend of relaxation and entertainment across 30-plus venues, from karaoke nights to elevated fine dining.

Odyssey of the Seas will sail 7- to 12-night itineraries beginning November 2027, covering stunning island destinations across the Caribbean. Guests can ride the railway through St. Kitts, explore Barbados’s dramatic underground caves or marvel at Castries’ breathtaking Piton Mountains and lush gardens. The onboard atmosphere buzzes with movie nights under the stars, vibrant entertainment at Music Hall and flavorful dining experiences at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Wonderland.

Independence of the Seas will offer 4- to 9-night getaways across Bermuda, Canada, New England and the Eastern Caribbean during spring and summer 2027. Guests can enjoy serene turquoise waters in Grand Turk, discover heritage sites in Willemstad or venture into the scenic landscapes of Portland and Halifax. With Splashaway Bay for kids and the FlowRider surf simulator for guests of all ages, Independence blends adventure and relaxation with diverse dining options such as Izumi, Chef’s Table and Fish & Ships.

Rounding out the Northeast roster, Vision of the Seas will sail from Baltimore with versatile 5- and 9-night itineraries. Summer journeys will take guests to Bermuda and Bimini, while fall adventures will explore Halifax, Saint John and other Atlantic gems. Evenings on Vision offer soothing retreats at the Vitality Spa, flavorful meals at Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Izumi and captivating performances like Broadway Rhythm & Rhyme and Boogie Wonderland.
