Tesla may soon introduce a 7-seater version of its popular Model Y SUV to the European market, according to reports from Chinese media. Currently, this configuration is only available in North America, but it might soon be available for European customers as well.
While enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the restyled Model Y, known as the "Juniper," a more unexpected version could soon appear in Tesla’s configurator—a 7-seater variant. This information was shared by the Chinese media outlet "National Business Daily." The vehicle is expected to be produced at Tesla's Shanghai factory, intended for sale in both China and Europe.
Although a 7-seater Model Y is not entirely new, as it is already available in North America, its introduction to the European market could help Tesla attract new customers, particularly as sales have been slowing down in the region. The European market is becoming increasingly competitive, with Peugeot launching a 7-seater e-5008 this fall.
However, the Model Y's design isn't ideally suited for accommodating passengers in the third row, making these additional seats more suitable for small children or emergency use.
If these reports are accurate, the 7-seater Model Y could be launched in Europe as early as October. However, this variant would not be eligible for the European bonus due to its Chinese production.
In the meantime, Tesla is offering a €4,000 discount on the Model Y Propulsion until the end of August, bringing the price down to €36,990 after deductions.
