Indian-born Swiss MP Nik Gugger Nominated by EVP Party for State Council Election

The EVP Canton Zurich nominated Winterthur National Councilor Nik Gugger for the autumn Ständerat elections at their delegate assembly in Bülach.

In the upcoming Swiss federal elections, there are some notable changes. The current Zürich Senator, Ruedi Noser, will not be running for re-election. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) is aiming to defend their position with National Councilor Regine Sauter. In contrast, Senator Daniel Jositsch of the Social Democratic Party (SP) is running for another term.

The elections are scheduled to take place in October, and the parties have already announced their candidates. The Swiss People's Party (SVP) has nominated National Councilor Gregor Rutz, while the Greens have selected Zürich City Councilor Daniel Leupi. National Councilor Tiana Moser will represent the Green Liberal Party (GLP), and Philipp Kutter has been nominated by the Center Party.

Notably, Philipp Kutter has recently been in the Paraplegic Center Nottwil since a severe skiing accident in early February. He will decide in the summer whether he will be able to run for re-election.

All in all, the 2023 Swiss federal elections will be an exciting time for the country, with candidates from various parties competing for seats in both the National and Ständerat. The stakes are high, and the results will have significant implications for Switzerland's future.
