Late on Tuesday afternoon, a motorcycle driver was seriously injured in a head-on collision with a car on the A8 near Interlaken. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Traffic was briefly reversed.
The report of a traffic accident on the A8 near Interlaken was received by the operations centre of the cantonal police in Bern on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, shortly after 4:50 p.m. According to current knowledge, two motorcyclists were coming from Spiez in the direction of Interlaken. Shortly before the Unterseen exit, an oncoming car got into the oncoming lane for reasons that have yet to be clarified, struck the first motorcycle and then collided head-on with the second motorcycle.
The driver of the rear motorcycle was seriously injured in the accident. He was given first medical aid on site and then taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The first motorcycle driver was able to stop and, according to current information, was slightly injured.
Traffic was briefly diverted while the accident was being recorded. To clarify the circumstances and the cause of the accident, investigations have been started by the cantonal police in Bern.
