Zurich Airport Celebrates Surge with 2.2 Million Passengers in November, Up 7% Year-Over-Year

Zurich Airport

Zurich Airport (ZRH) experienced a significant uptick in passenger traffic during November 2024, registering a 7% increase compared to the same month last year, with a total of 2.2 million travelers. Transfer passengers accounted for nearly a third of this volume, representing 32% of all traffic. Notably, the airport achieved 98% of its passenger volume compared to November 2019, reflecting a strong rebound towards pre-pandemic levels.

In terms of flight operations, the average load factor, which measures how full flights are, stood at 77% for the month. This indicates a healthy demand for air travel through Zurich.

On the freight side, Zurich Airport reported handling 37,493 tons of cargo in November. This marks a 9% increase from last year, although it still falls 4% short of the cargo volume recorded in November 2019. This discrepancy highlights the varying recovery rates between passenger and cargo traffic as the aviation sector continues to navigate post-pandemic challenges.
